The Polish Foundryman’s Day took place on December 13, 2024. This is the most important event for the foundry industry in Poland, and for several years has also been a significant international event, as evidenced by the growing number of international participants. The importance of the event is demonstrated not only by statistics but also by the fact that it is organized under the patronage of the World Foundry Organization, and the media patronage of the event is provided by the world-renowned foundry portal Foundry Planet, as well as the magazines Przegląd Odlewnictwa, Stal – Metale, Nowe Technologie, and dlaprodukcji.pl.

Nearly 250 people from Poland and abroad, representing the foundry industry, suppliers, universities, and research institutions, participated in this edition of the event.

Among the attendees were such distinguished personalities as José Javier González (WFO Secretary General), Andrew Turner (WFO Executive Secretary), Lynn Postle (Editor-in-Chief of Foundry Trade Journal), and Miriam Jan Blazic (President of the Association of Slovenian Founders).

The Polish Foundryman’s Day was combined with a technical conference entitled “We matter in the foundry industry.” The conference focused primarily on new solutions for energy savings, including the use of renewable energy sources, reducing CO2 emissions, and the use of new, innovative materials, as well as the use of modern solutions in digitalization and robotics in line with the concept of Industry 4.0.

The conference program included “Free Stand” – Opportunities and Threats for Foundries in the Context of Global Challenges. This was an open discussion forum led by Rafał Dańko, President of the Polish Foundrymen’s  Association.

The main topics of the forum were the current challenges facing the Polish foundry industry, including energy costs, the carbon footprint, the CBAM carbon tax, and problems resulting from the current economic climate. Topics included key changes in the automotive industry and the need to explore new markets, including cooperation with the defense industry. As is the case every year, the event was accompanied by an exhibition.
